The Capitol Hill block where Bauhaus Coffee and Books, nested on east Pine Street for 20 years is undergoing a complete makeover.
On this block, Madison Development Group is working on putting in 14,000 square feet of retail, 180-unit apartment complex, an interior courtyard and 177 stalls of underground parking, with a projected construction start date of September 2013.
The block has been an important part of the Capitol Hill landscape for years. The Development group does plan to incorporate the older buildings into the project as the city calls some of the buildings “character structures”.
