The historic Eitel Building on Second and Pike in the Pike Place Market neighborhood is set reopen as The State Hotel in 2018. The Eitel building was purchased by Lake Union Partners. The property is located at 1507 Second Avenue, the 90-room boutique hotel will be managed by Columbia Hospitality.
The $16 million renovation includes seismic upgrades, refinishing the terra cotta exterior and the reconstruction of the street level storefronts. They will also be adding an 8th floor which will include guestrooms and a rooftop terrace overlooking the Pike Place Market sign.
The Eitel Building was constructed in 1904 and received a one-story addition in 1906. It has been vacant since the 1970s except for the ground-floor retail space which was vacated shortly before construction began. The building received landmark designation from the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board in 2006.
Lake Union Partners’ team includes Weinstein A + U as the architect, Exxel Pacific is their general contractor and Portland-based Vida Design will be doing the interiors.
