Seattle is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and that growth brought increased commute times. More people are commuting via Seattle’s streets than it can handle. With the number of upcoming projects in the area, transportation officials are calling the next three years, 2018 to 2021, the “period of maximum constraint.”
One Center City, a partnership between the City of Seattle, King County, Sound Transit and the Downtown Seattle Association, was established to create a 20-year plan plan to “make it easier to get around Center City.” Center City’s focus is on some of Seattle’s densest and fastest growing neighborhoods, including: Uptown, South Lake Union, Capitol Hill, Pike/Pine, First Hill, International District, Pioneer Square, Commercial Core, Denny Triangle, and Belltown.
It’s safe to say that we should expect congestion to get worse before it gets better.
