In the latest installment of Seattle Insider: One on One with UrbanAsh, Ashley sits down with SELEUŠS owner and chocolatier Alexander Lóng to discuss why he started SELEUŠS [si-lüs], what it offers, and the value of its location.
Alex began making chocolates about ten years ago after becoming unsatisfied with the selection of chocolates to choose from. Whether it was too sweet, too salty, or a combination of the two, he knew that there was something missing and decided to step in. A few years later SELEUŠS was formed.
SELEUŠS is a rococo-styled chocolate café located above Pike Place Market on the corner of 1st and Stewart in the Thompson Hotel complex. Their signature handcrafted truffles, which you may have seen at some of our open houses, are known for their unique flavor combinations including: rose petal, honey, and liquor infusion.
Although chocolate is already great on its own, why not get more enjoyment out of it by pairing with a wine, scotch, or coffee? When visiting the shop be sure to ask their barista about their beverage pairings. Coffee will bring out some of the tastes of the chocolates, especially dark chocolate. All of the coffees carried in store are specified and carry hints of chocolate.
