Canadian developer Onni Group is proposing a plan to build a four residential towers on top of two full-block podiums, located in-between Denny Way and Thomas Street and Boren and Fairview Avenue north. The current zoning allows for 400-foot tall towers on the south block and 240-foot-tall buildings on the north block.

Called The Seattle Times Project – named for the Fairview & John location where The Seattle Times operated for over 80 years before selling to Onni group a few years back. As a historic landmark, the developer plans to restore and make the Times building north side of John at Fairview the centerpiece of the project.

The project will have around 1,945 apartments in four buildings: two will be 400 feet tall and two will be 240 feet tall. Retail space in the two podiums, and 1,700 underground parking stalls for residents. Its undecided whether the units will be for-sale condominiums or for-rent apartments. However the company plans to design all the units with condominium finishes, which allows for flexibility to market in both sections.
